What does B&R Avoidance mean and which positions need this attribute?

B&R Avoidance means "Bump and Run Avoidance" and it usually is a pass receiver attribute. You do not want a WR to get "Bumped" (Pass Route Block Delay) and thrown off a timing play, while TE's have to get past DL-men and LBs for their attacks against the seam. if you like to pass to your RB's coming out of the backfield, it is not very beneficial since they have wide open fields on their wheels and screens.

Bump and run coverage is a coverage technique where the defensive back jams the WR at the line, the idea being to keep the WR from getting into their route or to throw off the timing of the route. This can also buy the defensive line time to get to the QB. The risk with this coverage is that the WR could potentially get by the DB and burn them deep. B&R avoidance is the ability to avoid the jam or quickly get away from the jam. This should really only matter for TEs and WRs.
A common move I would use against the jam when I played TE was to use the swim move to quickly get away from the jam.

Anyone in man coverage has a probability of doing a bump and run.

There is a decision that your CBs make to decide whether to play off the WR or play close and bump and run. Usually this decreases with faster WR's so the CB doesn't get beat; you'll know if the CB is playing bump and run because he'll be right on the LOS when the play starts.

B&R will slow the pattern down (depending on the WR's B&R avoidance) because the WR's velocity is interrupted. This potentially could give the DL a bit of extra time before the WR completes his route. So it doesn't have a huge impact, but may tilt the scales slightly on some plays

Does player strength play a factor in B&R?
