Roster Size Question

Forgive me if this has been asked/answered somewhere.

Our Midweek-Sim prior to Regular Season Week 1 runs tonight.

Do I need to have my Roster down to 53 before that executes? Or can I still pare down the roster prior to Week 1's game?
