I'm a newbie and don't want to miss something that I should be doing. Any help here is appreciated.

Basically, it's your last chance to re-sign players in the final year of their contract before they go to free agency - it's one last 'midweek-style' stage. Also, that's when players and coaches retire, but you don't have to do anything for that.
